Dr. Francisco Balderrama shares insight about Repatriation in the 1930s when people of Mexican ancestry were rounded up and forcefully deported to Mexico without any due process. An estimated 1.2 million of these people were United States citizens.

In 2005, the State of California passed an official Apology Act to those affected by this tragedy.

Sadly, there are echos of these events in today’s climate as would-be politicians use the same claims, accusations and manufactured outrage for political purposes. In fact, Game Show Host-turned-Presidential candidate Donald Trump proposes a mass deportation not unlike this one from the 30’s.
